Durga Puja at Kaggadasapura

Durga Puja is the most popular festival of Bengalis. Puja Pandals can be seen on every nook and corner of Bengal during this festival.  It is also celebrated by people of Assam and Orissa.  During this four day long festival they erect huge statues of Durga and conduct different pujas (Shashthi Puja, Saptami Puja, Ashtami Puja, Nabami and Dashami Pujas).  On the first day women fast for the well being of their family.  In the evening they break the fast with fruits, luchis and subzis. Don’t miss anjali, prasad and bhog during these days.  They also conduct various cultural programmes like dance, dramas etc in the evenings.    Now-a-days people from all states participate in this Public festival.  After Durga Puja celebrations are over (usually on Dashami) the idols are carried in grand processions and immersed in nearby lakes or rivers.

Kaggadasapura Bengali Association has arranged Durga Puja at SCT College (Kaggadasapura Main Road) this year (2010).
