As it is a very useful website, I would like to share some additional points regarding marriage certificate. As India has not yet implemented unified civil code, the procedures of getting marriage certificate varies for different religions. For a christian applicant, it is something similar to the procedure as in special marriage act. The application has to be submitted by the couple in person in the sub-registrar office with documents (3nos of 2PP size joint-photograph, certificate from church, marriage invitation card, address proof of both - husband & wife, filled application form ) & fee (Rs 33/-). Marriage can be registered in the same office after 30 days and before 90 days, with 2 additional photographs & 3 witnesses. But the certificate will be issued with the date of your actual marriage.
